Manual Lathe Machinist Jobs

5-7 years of Machine Shop experience preferred

Can identify common raw materials, proper tooling and work-holding devices

Is competent with typical measuring equipment (micrometers, dial calipers, indicators, and edge finders).

Familiar with Haas controls and G & M codes.

Follow set-up sheet instructions, set tool lengths and work offsets, familiar with “A” axisalso a plus.

Required to check parts to print and adjust tool offsets as required.

Experience working to very close tolerances (+/- .0002)

Experience with reading blue prints for mechanical components

Experience inspecting parts and using inspection tools

Experience with changing live tooling

Set up and operate manual machines including Mills, Drills, Shears, Engine and Turret Lathes, etc.

Operate hoist to load and unload work pieces when necessary.

Select holding methods and determine proper sequence of machining operation utilizing routing sheets, work drawings and/or verbal instructions.

Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, etc. to compare work pieces to predetermined specifications.

Exercise judgment relative to quality and finish of work piece.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Experienced in a manufacturing facility.

Reworks parts as per print, with written and verbal instructions.

Maintains production by completing scheduled work on-time as per the schedule.

Inspects components, subassemblies, and final assemblies to ensure proper form, fit, and function in addition to meeting all dimensional criteria.

Maintains a clean, safe, well-organized work area at all times.

3+ years of experience operating mills and lathes in a machine shop is required.

Manual Mill & Lathe Operator Qualifications

$ 20.00 to $ 23.00 / hour

First Shift ( Monday through Friday from 05:00am to 03:30pm )

Set up and operate manual milling machines and lathes.

Machine and lathe various items according to specific job instructions.

· Experienced in ability to set-up and in operating lathe

· Strong knowledge of application of geometric tolerances, blueprints, and specifications

· Expert skill in precision measuring equipment

· 5 years machining experience

· Quality focused and detail oriented

· Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly

Perform any other duties as assigned by manager.

Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)

Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material.

Good at math with analytical abilities.

We are looking for a skilled

Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.

Must have experience! This is not an entry level position.

Operators calibrate and operate a manual lathe machine or grinder,

Work with materials such as wood, metal, and glass.

Set-up the machine and load the materials into it.

Must have a warehouse background

Must be able to read blueprints

Plans and performs setups, layouts, and execution of work according to product specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.

Uses of special holding fixtures, counterbalances and counterweights for positioning and securing products in machines and to assure tolerances are achieved.

Operates overhead cranes and/or radio-controlled cranes when and where required and/or assigned.

Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules.

Maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.

Maintains all reports and recordkeeping as required.

Utilize knowledge of specifications to achieve desired results by reading blueprints and mechanical drawings.

Continuously learn and improve skills in manual machining.

Minimum of 2 years of previous experience operating manual milling machines, combined with trade school training.

Knowledge and application of basic shop math principles.

Comfortable using computers for data entry and basic tasks.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to follow instructions.

Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.

Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.

Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.

Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.

Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.

High School Diploma or Education Equivalency Required

Job related experience for 5 year(s) minimum

CNC/Manual Machinist for the manufacturing of overhead cranes and components

Ability to read and interpret shop machining drawings

Ability to set up and run CNC machines, manual lathes, mills, and drill presses working off shop drawings

Ability to hold tolerances to within .0005” as required

Able to use precision measuring equipment including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, and dial bore gauges

Consistently produce high-quality and accurate parts

Great verbal and written communication skills.

Operational knowledge of both Manual Mills and Manual Lathes

Good knowledge of machining tools, inserts, endmills, turning tools etc. to be able to machine parts

Knowledge of metal properties and other material.

Setup and operate manual machines including Mills, Drills, Shears, Lathes, etc.

Operate hoist to load and unload work pieces when necessary

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications

Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs

Strong Lathe Machine operation experience
