Job Description

NOV in Cedar Park Texas is looking for a Manual Machinist who will safely and efficiently set up and operate a CNC Mill or CNC Lathe. Machines include Okuma CNC Lathes, Mazak CNC Lathes machining centers. Day Shift work.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling and tapping, chases threads, machines tapers and other allied operations such as shaft straightening
  • Setup and operate manual machines including Mills, Drills, Shears, Lathes, etc.
  • Exercise judgment relative to quality and finish of work piece
  • Work in a safe manner at all times, and immediately report any machines or tool malfunctions to supervisor in charge
  • Operate hoist to load and unload work pieces when necessary
  • Select holding methods and determine proper sequence of machining operation utilizing routing sheets, work drawings and/or verbal instructions
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators, etc. to compare work pieces to predetermined specifications
  • Perform other work related tasks as assigned.
  • Work with minimum of supervisor and instructions
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years’ experience, preferred
  • Ability to accurately measure with a variety of metrology tooling I.E. micrometers, calipers, hole micrometers and profilometers
  • Operational knowledge of both Manual Mills and Manual Lathes
  • Good knowledge of machining tools, inserts, endmills, turning tools etc. to be able to machine parts
  • High School diploma, GED, Vocational school or apprenticeship, preferred
  • Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
    • Operational knowledge of both Manual Mills and Manual Lathes
    • Ability to do set up and run parts with tight tolerances
    • Good knowledge of machining tools, inserts, endmills, turning tools etc. to be able to machine parts
    • Ability to accurately measure with a variety of metrology tooling I.E. micrometers, calipers, hole micrometers and profilometers
  • Ability to do set up and run parts with tight tolerances
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of metal properties and other material.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
  • Legal right to work in the United States
  • Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to view a computer screen.
  • Regularly required to perform light physical effort to lift or move lightweight materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Regularly required to communicate, converse with, and exchange information by means of the spoken and written word.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach.
  • Regularly required to operate a computer and other office machinery using finger dexterity for typing and writing.
