Essential Job Knowledge & Skills

5-10 years video editing experience.

Knowledge /skill set in all programs in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite especially Photoshop, Lightroom, In Design, etc.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in visual communications, media, or related field

Strong knowledge of Photo Mechanic, Capture One

Film editing skills a plus, i.e. 35 mm slides, negatives, chromes

Exceptional knowledge of NBA players and the game of basketball

Editing a raw take of a photographer's game action

2-3 years of experience in photo editing, or similar.

Administrator and owner of Digital Asset Management software

Proficiency in file management, web optimization techniques, and hi-resolution retouching for both print and digital.

Adapt and adhere to established brand style guidelines and requirements including cataloging, naming, cropping, color managing, masking, and product details.

Organize and manage retouching calendar to prioritize tasks and due dates, ensuring on-time delivery and transparency.

Organize and manage digital assets while following established procedures.

2-3 year experience in photo retouching and image post production process.

Experience using DAM (Digital Asset Management System) and strong attention to detail for metadata accompanying images in the DAM

Experience negotiating and working with photo agencies who supply news outlets, rights managed and royalty free areas

At least two years’ minimum experience in a busy 24-hour news room environment – digital news is desired

Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and the latest interactive technologies

Graphic design experience is a plus

Experience commissioning freelance photographers and regularly work with an established contact list of experienced news photographers
