Job Description
Summary of Position
The Features Photo Editor will work closely with editors, reporters, and cross-platform staff to coordinate, assign, and edit photo and video content for several feature topics with an emphasis on food photography.
Essential Duties & Functions
  • Flexibility, creativity and the ability to work under tight deadlines as part of a team is required.
  • Assigning and supervising visual journalists through all stages of capturing stills and video.
  • Responsibilities include setting up assignments, keeping track of daily developments and responding to situations as they arise.
  • Work is featured online, in weekly newspaper sections as well as a quarterly food magazine.
Essential Job Knowledge & Skills
  • Fluent knowledge of Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and image management systems are required.
  • Experience in feature photo editing, including food and lifestyle, is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Production and/or related field strongly desired.
  • 5-10 years video editing experience.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible and varied schedule to include weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed to support the business.
  • Must be collaborative and communicative with colleagues across all platforms.
Compensation
  • The annual salary range for this position is $121,000 - $125,000.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel throughout Long Island, if required.
