Heavy Mobil Equipment Mechanic Jobs in Ohio

Minimum of three year of experience working on heavy equipment.

Be able to weld and fabricate, as needed.

Performs preventive maintenance services in accordance with the established Fleet Management program.

Follows all guidelines outlined in the Fleet Management Standard Operating Procedures (FMSOP).

Understands, observes, and complies with all Governmental, Pueblo County, and Departmental policies, procedures, and protocols when performing job duties.

5 years or more experience in Heavy Equipment and/or Truck Repair Required

Must be able to pass post-job offer physical screening Required

Obtains and maintains professional certifications when needed.

Two (2) years of experience as a vehicle/heavy duty mechanic.

Performs full range of preventative and periodic maintenance and repair, modification and installation services to City fleet.

Welds and fabricates as needed for repair or construction; repairs and maintains hydraulic systems; diagnoses and repairs electrical systems.

Repairs light and heavy-duty brake systems; maintains emission control systems; repairs and installs tires; maintains shop and facility equipment.

Performs transfers of special gear from old to new units, usually requiring modification to fit properly.

Other tasks assigned by management

Running a cash register, this includes accountability for cash, lottery tickets, cash cards, etc.

Cleaning (windows, floors, bathrooms, emptying trash containers, etc.)

Gasoline tank inventory (stick readings)

Checking product in as it is delivered from vendors

Yard maintenance (sweeping, shoveling, painting, checking gas wells, etc.)

Possess knowledge about working on various construction heavy equipment (i.e. dump trucks, track hoes, back hoes, and bulldozers, etc.)

3+ years’ experience working on construction heavy equipment &/or Class 8 trucks

Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (Preferred)

Perform repairs on heavy equipment

Maintain accurate records on repairs performed on vehicles

Maintain a clean working environment

Multi-functional position, incorporating the performance of mechanic duties on various pieces of machinery and operating equipment.

Lubrication on oil, air and fuel filtration, grease points and capacities, and inspection techniques to detect abnormal conditions.

Assist in the complete overhaul of various mechanisms used to transfer engineer horsepower to active effort.

Ability to weld and burn equipment and operations of saws, grinders, and presses.

Heavy equipment parts familiarization including: parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost of heavy equipment parts.

Previous mechanic and/or equipment service experience

Education in mechanics, electrical or hydraulic systems

Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills

Develop basic computer skills with Microsoft office

Strong in spirit and industry knowledge, Altec mechanics are the best in the industry.

3+ years heavy equipment mechanical repair and maintenance experience

Hydraulic and electrical maintenance experience is required

Identifies problems with mechanical, hydraulic, diesel & electrical systems and executes solutions

Reads & understands hydraulic & electrical schematics

Troubleshoots and repairs diesel engines (Cat, Cummins, Detroit).

Performs maintenance & mechanical repairs; Cranes, Toploaders, Sideloaders, Hostlers, Forklifts, etc.

Examines equipment and discusses with Project Manager nature and extent of damage or malfunction

Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
