Film Archivist Jobs in New York

Experience with DSpace or other open access collection management systems preferred.

Advanced degree (Masters Preferred) from an accredited institution in Library and Information Studies, Archival Management, or a related field.

Exceptional customer service skills, customer service experience, and passion for the visual arts.

Previous museum experience and foreign language skills strongly preferred.

Proactively and warmly welcomes guests, responds to questions, and offers guidance.

Stays abreast of current and upcoming exhibitions, films, educational programs, and marketing campaigns.

Sells daily and advance Museum admission, film, and program tickets, memberships, and member guest passes.

Processes credit cards and coupons, rings up cash, and issues change.

Additional language skills beyond English

Assisting curators on executing annual programs such as Doc Fortnight, New Directors/New Films and To Save and Project

Processing collection documentation and curatorial files

A Bachelor’s degree along with deep interest in contemporary and/or historical film

A strong work ethic and eagerness to learn

Demonstrated project management experience, including concurrent management of multiple projects with multiple stakeholders.

Minimum of 2 years digital asset management experience or comparable databases, including asset ingest, export, and metadata creation.

Manage data capture concerning the Archives’ collections for inclusion in JALC’s information management program.

Collaborate as needed to provide the adoption of basic records management protocols.

Graduate degree in Archives Management or MLIS with archival focus, or other graduate degree with a Certificate in Archives Management.

Manage physical security and preservation of the Archives collections.

Facilitating acquisition, preservation, arrangement, description, and access to born-digital materials

Creating heritage research files relevant to business objectives

Assisting staff, researchers, and interns interested in accessing the Archives

Bachelor’s Degree in Archival Science

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, and climb ladders.

Some positions may involve outdoor field work or caring for objects exhibited outside.

3-5 years of audio/video archive experience, showing a progression of technical and project management skills.

Manage and maintain archived recordings and storage volumes.

Degree in Audio/Video Engineering, Multimedia Production, related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Pro Tools and Logic – expert level knowledge required.

Basic video production experience a must (Adobe Creative Cloud).

Working with BitCurator and other digital forensics tools
