PARAPROFESSIONAL, ENGLISH LANGUAGE ACQUISITION - SPANISH

JOHN F KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL

Hours Per Day: 7 Hours

Demonstrates comprehensive mission knowledge and skills that affirms completion of all developmental training and experiences for the labor category.

Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience serving as an ESL instructor

Required Certification: TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) or TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate

Objective is to improve INSCOM linguist readiness and mission productivity and effectiveness when speaking, reading, and writing in the English language.

Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal oversight and direction.

Demonstrates ability to develop concise, insightful, and comprehensive products for defense intelligence.

Bachelor's degree in education, English, or equivalent experience required

Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required

Some experience in large-scale educational measurement preferred

Work closely with test development managers, other content developers, psychometricians, and other Pearson groups

Five years’ experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of ELA area preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS

Knowledgeable about effective skills and strategies for diverse learners, special education students, and non-native English speakers.

Experience, and high degree of comfort, with facilitating using remote synchronous learning platforms such as Zoom.

Strong foundational knowledge in evidence-based reading/ELA instruction and research on teaching reading/language arts or ELA at the elementary and/or secondary level.

In-depth knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and/or other state standards for English Language Arts.

Experience in a variety of school settings serving diverse populations is preferred.

Able and willing to travel, including to remote locations, when travel conditions are safe.

Experience in implementing educational reform efforts at the school district and/or state level.

Knowledge of Title III Bilingual Education legislation.

Knowledge of a variety of bilingual education models.

Experience with the use of technology in education and administration.

A team of professional collaborators leading students and supporting their educational paths.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
