Chief Building Inspector Jobs

Partner with management to develop specifications for contracted services

Ensure noted items on inspection checklists which require additional follow up are resolved and/or communicated to the Property Manager

Provide feedback to Property Manager regarding needed repairs, special services, etc.

Perform other job duties or projects as requested or required

5+ years’ experience in commercial building maintenance or related field

5+ years’ experience operating relevant computer hardware/software (e.g. HVAC, security, MS Office, Work order system, smart phones, etc.)

Title and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Oversees as well as conducts regular inspections and maintenance of building equipment and systems.

Establishes and maintains a professional, working relationship with external vendors.

Performs other duties as needed.

Through the chain of command, inform the appropriate staff of problems or issues that require the intervention of senior staff.

Meet collectively with all unit personnel at least once per month to review unit concerns and operations.

Deploy personnel to ensure maximum efficiency and optimum service to public.

Explain and enforce laws and rules relevant to the field.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and Site Manager

NICET IV or acceptable equivalent ASCE grade or combination of acceptable education and experience on similar duties as a NYSDOT employee

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Minimum 12 years of experience of inspection work on heavy highway projects

Past experience managing construction contractor and inspection staff.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to competently perform the essential duties of the position

Six years of Code Enforcement/Inspection experience to include two years of lead/supervisory experience

NPDES Level 1B Erosion Control Inspector certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment

ICC Commercial Building Inspector certification

ICC Residential Combination Inspector certification or equivalent

Supervising and evaluating the performance of lower level personnel and prioritizing and assigning work.

Manages and provides monthly reporting related to equipment assigned to inspectors, including vehicles.

Assists the Watershed Protection Group Manager in the discharge of their duties, as assigned

A minimum of 8 years of relevant environmental experience in stormwater quality and onsite wastewater

A minimum of 5 years of direct supervisory experience

Knowledge of environmental issues surrounding water quality, specifically stormwater, OSSFs, and environmental compliance

Skilled in building professional relationship across multiple disciplines

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to competently perform the essential duties of the position
