This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Chief Inspector to be based out of our New York City office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Perform QC/QA inspections of contractor operations for conformace to plans, proposals and specficiations.
  • Willing ness to work in a variety of weather conditions and nights work and weekend work possible
  • Reviewing site conditions, material placement, adherence to safety plan.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform testing and sampling of materials and products used in construction. Ensure compliance with approved materials/specs.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
  • Review plans, shop drawings and approved submittals for construction.
  • Writing detailed daily inspection reports including in place measurements, as-built sketches, quantity calculations and tracking of manpower/resources.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Drivers license and ability to commute to project sites
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Identify potential changed conditions, additional work and help develop solutions, cost estimates.
  • Past experience managing construction contractor and inspection staff.
  • NICET IV or acceptable equivalent ASCE grade or combination of acceptable education and experience on similar duties as a NYSDOT employee
  • Assist in managing inspection and office staff.
  • Monitoring Contractor performance, scheduling, effectiveness and quality control. Review and approve daily inspection reports and payment quantities in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience of inspection work on heavy highway projects
  • OSHA Safety training
  • Review daily schedules and assign inspection staff to field operations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and Site Manager
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Responsible for record keeping, correspondence, compiling and delivering of required reports. Chair various project meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes.

Expected Salary: $85,500 - 174,600
