They ensure that all instruments and supplies are properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized in accordance with established protocols. They also inspect and test instruments and supplies to ensure they are in good working order. They may also be responsible for the maintenance and repair of medical instruments and equipment. Central Processing Technicians must be knowledgeable of the various types of medical instruments and supplies used in medical procedures and must be able to identify and select the appropriate instruments and supplies for each procedure.
