Behavior Intervention Specialist Jobs

Three (3) or more years of experience working in behavior management and student accountability

Facilitate Decision-Making for Success and Habits of Success classes

Serving as in-school suspension coordinator

Experience and knowledge in Early Childhood Education program and teaching standards, including code of ethics – NAEYC standards preferred

Respond to and effectively manage children who are in crisis.

3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role

Experience with Functional Behavioral Analysis

Experience working with individuals in a group setting

Effective communication skills - verbal and written

Effective management of disruptive students

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Exceptional Student Education, psychology, social work, counseling, behavior analysis or related field

Minimum of three (3) years successful experience working with students exhibiting maladaptive behavior

Knowledge of Applied Principals of Behavior Analysis (ABA), data collection and data analysis at all tiers of instruction

BCBA or BCaBA certification, or candidate will obtain certification within three (3) years of date of hire

Certification in district adopted crisis intervention/de-escalation program.

Conduct observations of students for development of behavior management and behavior modification plans.

Provide in-service training for teachers and staff in working with children and adolescents on behavior management.

Participate in the design, implementation and evaluation of crisis management plans.

Demonstrated success in development, implementation and evaluation of individual and group behavior management and modification plans.

Valid Special Education licensure and/or certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, and student progress/data meetings for the purpose of sharing information and improving skills and knowledge.

Provide support to staff in designing and implementing intervention strategies to support students’ behavioral and social skills.

Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity toward students and their individual differences in terms of abilities, cultures, and languages.

AA/AS degree, or 48+ semester college units, or Paraprofessional Certification.

Be visible on school grounds and in classrooms to reinforce positive behavior.

Participate in required trainings including the District mandated E/BD training for paraprofessionals, as well as nonviolent crisis intervention.

Prior experience with students with disabilities and/or trauma preferred.

Maintain active Ohio Department of Education licensure as an Intervention Specialist: Mild/Moderate Educational Needs or Moderate/Intensive Educational Needs.

Complies with Operating Standards for Ohio's Schools serving Children with Disabilities.

Prepares daily lesson plans, plan strategies, and activities to meet identified needs of students, implements student individual education plan (IEP).

Strong time management skills: able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.

Consult with staff to develop trainings for the behavioral management of shelter canines.

Strong computer skills and working knowledge in Microsoft Office suite of products.

Prompt and dependable, able to follow instructions, work independently, respond to management direction, and able to improve performance through management feedback.

Consult with Directors, Managers, and Staff Veterinarians to discuss and review more significant behavior cases; aids in developing plans.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
