Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory also has an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations around the globe. We are dedicated solely to the support of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC, a wholly own a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking an experienced Radiological Controls (RADCON) professional to join the Knolls Radiological Controls Operations (RCO) Unit as a Work Group Leader. The Knolls RCO Unit is a fast-paced, and diverse organization comprised of over 20 highly trained and qualified personnel who support all nuclear operations at the Knolls Laboratory.

The RCO unit is seeking an experienced, motivated, and dedicated Work Group Leader who will lead non-exempt Radiological Controls Technicians (RCTs). The Work Group Leader is responsible for direct engagement with the RCT workforce to ensure readiness, proficiency, and technical credibility in all aspects of radiological operations and emergency response. Additional responsibilities of the Work Group Leader include RCT development/mentoring, and RCT resource management to meet the needs of all stakeholders across the Knolls Laboratory. As part of this position, the selected candidate will be required to achieve and maintain an NNPP Article 108 Supervisory Radiological Controls Technician (SRCT) qualification.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

High school diploma.; There are no minimum experience requirements. Specific positions may require experience for technical competency in the job.

Previous experience as a NNPP Article 108 Radiological Controls Technician (RCT) and or Supervisory Radiological Controls Technician (SRCT).
