Job Overview

Jeffco Public Schools is seeking experienced and detail-oriented web copywriters to join ourCommunication Services department on an 8- to 12-month contract in support of a website

redesign project. The goal of this project is to deliver focused content through a user-friendlywebsite platform that champions digital equity and accessibility in service of our diverseschool communities.Successful candidates will possess expertise in copywriting and copyediting web content toensure clarity, accuracy and consistency across the district's website, intranet, and over 130school websites.

Essential Duties• Collaborate with the Communication Services department to understand thedistrict's goals and objectives to ensure that web content aligns with the intendedmessaging.

• Ensure consistency in tone, messaging and branding across different webpages andsections of the website in accordance with the Jeffco web style guide.• Copyedit and optimize existing web content, including text, images and multimediaelements, for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation and adherence to AP Style.

• Work closely with the web design and development team to optimize content forsearch engine visibility and user engagement.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legal and accessibility standards, such as ADAcompliance, Section 508 guidelines and WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex educational informationinto clear, accessible language for a diverse audience.

• Suggest improvements for the website's structure, organization, and user flow basedon stakeholder feedback and industry best practices.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a copywriter or content writer with a strong portfolio of web zcopywriting samples.

• Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling andpunctuation following AP Style guidelines.

• Strong attention to detail including editing, proofreading and ability to produce high quality work with minimal errors meeting tight deadlines.

• Knowledge of web content best practices and the ability to adapt writing style to suitonline platforms.

• Familiarity with SEO principles and the ability to incorporate keywords and optimizecontent for search engines.

• Understanding of web accessibility guidelines (ADA compliance, Section 508, WCAG2.1 Level AA) and their impact on web content creation.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectivelywith stakeholders at all levels.

• Familiarity with educational institutions or experience in the education sector ispreferred but not required
