The Texas Operations team is seeking a Water Management Operator to work on the Permian Water Resources team and contribute to one of Ovintiv’s core liquid rich growth properties. This position will work closely with the Texas Operations Production Operations, Field Construction, Land, EH&S and Development teams to ensure best in class coordination and support.

We are seeking a candidate who works well in a team environment and independently in the field, has the ability to take on multiple tasks and has field experience of water handling, production, or similar field asset experience. The individual will be a key member of the operations team and will be expected to work with a high degree of focus on safety and production. The ability to work effectively with other professionals with varying levels of experience and from different backgrounds is an essential requirement to be successful in this role.

This position is located in Midland, TX and reports to the Water Management Coordinator and Lead Water Management Operator.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate and manage relationships with landowners.
• Operate, maintain, and oversee water recycling facilities.
• Operate Ovintiv properties to ensure all regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance issues and goals are met for their specific area.
• Monitor chemical usage at water facilities, injection wells and pipelines as needed.
• Operate and maintain all types of water movement equipment, pump valves, pipelines -- including maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Responsible for daily communication of field operations, including creating and maintaining daily reports.
• Perform various other field related activities as required.
• Collaborate with Ovintiv and service provider teams/disciplines on worksite: point of contact for field operations, coordination, and completions teams.
• Seek ways to reduce operating expenses.
• Work with automation systems and Production Operations team.
• Strong focus on driving safety and journey management.
• Oversee and direct work of service providers, ensuring compliance with Ovintiv EH&S requirements and execution standards.
• Makes routine decisions and recommendations within established guidelines and procedures.
• Oversee Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), maintenance and record-keeping.
• Assist and coordinate all water transfer activities for construction, drilling and completion activities.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of water transfer.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with SCADA and Cygnet preferred.
• Must be able to regularly lift 25 pounds, between 50-100 pounds occasionally.
• 5 or more years of experience in water transfer services or operating a produced/recycled water system, or 2 to 4 years oil and gas operator experience.
• Previous experience in oil and gas industry preferred.
• Familiarity with operation and maintenance of electrically driven water pumps.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
