Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President of Planning to join our executive team and contribute to the continued success and expansion of Ascend Wellness Holdings. As the VP of Planning, you will play a crucial role in formulating and implementing the company's long-term product plans, driving business growth, enhancing operational efficiency, and optimizing resource allocation. This position requires the ability to anticipate market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes, and reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.


Location: Remote with Travel Expectation. Preference will be given to candidates who reside in market: IL, MI, OH, MD, NJ, PA, MA


Primary Responsibilities


  • Product Planning: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute long-term product plans aligned with the company's vision, mission, and objectives. Lead the development of product planning, buying, and inventory allocation for Ascend's retail business strategies that capitalize on market opportunities and strengthen Ascend Wellness Holdings' competitive position.
  • Operational Efficiency: Collaborate with operational leaders to improve processes and streamline workflows throughout the organization. Implement best practices to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and optimize supply chain operations.
  • Performance Measurement: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to assess the success and effectiveness of business initiatives. Regularly report to the executive team on progress and outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about cannabis regulations in various states and ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Proactively address potential compliance issues and risks.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and regulatory developments within the cannabis industry. Utilize this information to provide actionable insights that drive decision-making and market entry strategies.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing Planning team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Oversee the financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Work closely with the Finance team to ensure effective financial management and resource allocation across various business units.


Requirements


  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable strategies.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in product planning, allocation, determining margins, inventory management, working capital turnover, business development, and operational management
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing plans that drive business growth and expansion.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MSc) is preferred.
  • Excellent financial acumen and experience in financial planning and analysis.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to convey complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving industry, with a high level of adaptability and resilience.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, capable of inspiring and motivating teams to achieve goals.


Physical Requirements


The position must occasionally lift, push, pull and or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, this position is regularly required to sit and regularly use hand(s) to handle, grasp, feel, and or touch. This position is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. This position requires you to speak and listen regularly.
