Purpose of the role


The VP Marketing leads strategic portfolio planning and is responsible for the alignment and successful implementation of strategic imperatives across functions in the U.S. and aligns globally. This individual provides strategic direction and guidance to the marketing team and fosters a patient centric environment. The VP Marketing is instrumental in the development and implementation of a company-wide KOL advocacy plan providing leadership and direction for strategies, tactics, and messaging. The VP Marketing shares best practices among marketing teams. This individual evaluates the marketplace to identify potential future business opportunities. The VP Marketing leads by example and is responsible for fostering an environment of development and growth.


Areas of Responsibility


  • Provides strategic direction, coaching, and support to marketing teams to ensure the successful execution of all tactics
  • Leads annual cross-functional team meetings (marketing, medical, legal, market access, and sales) to identify and align on critical success factors, key strategic imperatives, inside and outside of the U.S.
  • Maintain open lines of communication throughout the year to facilitate the process
  • Manager will at minimum meet with each employee three times per year: Goal and Objective setting for the new year, Mid-year Review, and yearend review. Ideally, this should be an ongoing dialogue between the manager and the direct report
  • Leads in the integration and consistency of strategic direction, positioning, materials and messaging across all markets
  • Responsible for leading both HAE & APDS marketing teams
  • Fiscal responsibility for the marketing budget creation and oversight (+ /– 5% of plan)
  • Collaborates with HR department on Performance Review process including rolling out process to direct reports
  • Builds consensus among cross functional leadership to ensure the implementation of strategic imperatives and tactics in each functional area within the company
  • Line manager will also attend and participate in calibration meetings regarding direct reports
  • Delivers commercial insights into current and future product life cycle management plans
  • Partners with patient associations to create a patient centric culture that engages with, and supports patients
  • Delivers key commercial insights into annual and five-year forecasts for the marketing portfolio
  • Meet with direct reports to set goals and objectives, as well as development goals at the beginning of the year

What you'll need to succeed


Basic Qualifications:


  • 5+ Years’ experience leading a marketing team
  • Experience in Specialty
  • 10+ Years of pharmaceutical experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires project management skills and study leadership ability
  • Rare Disease experience
  • Master’s Degree
  • Track record of success in leading and developing teams
  • Ability to quickly display credibility and build support for necessary initiatives
