Role Summary

Emporium TPO LLC is looking for a highly experienced and dynamic professional to serve as a VP of Capital Markets. This position will be responsible for managing the secondary market activities and initiatives within the company. This position will work with the company’s executive team and technologies leadership to help define and implement a capital markets strategy that incorporates product, pricing, lock desk, pipeline management, best execution analysis, interest rate risk management, hedging, and delivery methods. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience as a senior member of a best-in-class mortgage capital markets team and can balance both the tactics and strategy of technical capital markets execution with leadership and process design.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and carry out pricing and delivery strategy to achieve stable, targeted profit margins, while staying compliant with company’s established operational framework and long run strategic objectives
  • Perform mortgage pipeline and interest rate risk management, including hedging, to minimize market interest rate exposure
  • Manage the secondary market activities and initiatives, working closely with investors and the company’s capital markets team to create and implement pricing and hedging strategies
  • Monitor and maximize pull-through rates, reporting on commitment strategies
  • Ensure quick and accurate file delivery to investors to minimize warehouse dwell time
  • Conduct studies that evaluate data on economic conditions, identify and evaluate economic trends and their impact on the market, and formulate forecasts of future economic developments of residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) and other facets of the mortgage industry
  • Establish daily secondary market pricing for saleable products and work closely with other leadership to establish product pricing. Monitor pricing for competitive positioning taking advantage of investor price moves and owning the product and pricing eligibility engines
  • Provide functional oversight for the lock desk, quality control, post-closing, and investor delivery teams
  • Mentor members of secondary team on all facets of the secondary marketing function
  • Develop awareness for capital markets issues and trends that will impact sale execution.
  • Exercise the usual authority of a manager concerning performance appraisals, staffing, employee development, salary recommendations and terminations
  • Maximize profitability within established guidelines through best execution analysis (including whether to retain or sell servicing) and choice of investor delivery methods
  • Assist with new product development, guideline review, and appropriate corresponding disclosures


Requirements

  • Familiar with Encompass LOS and product and pricing engines
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational, research and follow-up skills
  • 10 years of experience in mortgage secondary marketing and capital markets; 5 years in a capital markets leadership role
  • Advanced knowledge of secondary mortgage market product guidelines for Jumbo and Non-QM
  • Ability to interact with all levels of clients (internal/external), staff, and management exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills work successfully in a deadline driven, high pressure, fast-paced, ever changing team environment
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field


Preferred Experience

  • Developing and executing a strategy for selling on servicing retained or released basis with securitization a plus
  • Managing rate sheets and rate sheet delivery
  • Working with a hedge advisor
  • Managing portfolio structure and mix
