Overview:

The VP, Business Development role will play a key part in driving the divisions growth and revenue by developing and executing strategies to build partnerships with Customers


Description:

As Vice President Business Development, you'll define the strategic approach for gaining critical new business development opportunities, the development and execution of current and future capture/growth activities and influencing stakeholders and customers on win strategies. You'll drive strategic capture and BD lifecycle opportunities, develop foundations for the overall win strategy ensuring all Business Development activities are related to the needs, issues and challenges of the customer. Your duties will also include staying current on market trends, key customer budgets, and future customer needs, and provide strategic guidance and inputs to align to customer requirements.


Must Haves:

  • Must possess strong human relations skills to select, develop, coach, mentor, discipline and reward employees; possess well-developed interpersonal skills to manage, lead, and direct; ability to deal effectively with people and resolve conflicts and identify solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Development, Marketing or a related field (relevant experience may substitute for required education)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following disciplines: Business development, capture management, program management, science and engineering programs, acquisition processes, opportunity identification and qualification
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and an exquisite attention to detail, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to business leaders and to internal and external customers
  • Progressive experience leading and overseeing the development of account plans and capture plans for new business opportunities
  • Proven leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage capture activities that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies
  • Ability to use insight of the organization's internal and external business environment to improve outcomes that affect business/account; proven ability to drive positive change with continuous improvement
  • 5+ years of experience and proven track record in a similar or related position with similar responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • You'll drive strategic capture and BD lifecycle opportunities, develop foundations for the overall win strategy, and oversee the technical approach for each new product development/planning activity, ensuring all Business Development activities are related to the needs, issues and challenges of the customer
  • As Vice President Business Development, you'll define the strategic approach for gaining critical new business development opportunities, the development and execution of current and future capture/growth activities and influencing stakeholders and customers on win strategies
  • Your duties will also include staying current on market trends, key customer budgets, and future customer needs, and provide strategic guidance and inputs to align to customer requirements
  • Travel will be required throughout the year to visit clients, trade shows, conferences, and other events
