The MHW - Mental Health Worker is responsible for establishing a therapeutic relationship with patients and facilitates the maintenance of a therapeutic environment by providing supportive services to individuals with serious mental disabilities in a 24-hour residential setting; documenting services provided in the resident’s electronic health record and facility log; providing crisis intervention services as needed; occasional transport of residents.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

• May be responsible for admitting, transferring and discharging specific patients as assigned.
• Provides direct patient care as assigned by licensed staff.
• Facilitates and ensures patient attendance at activities.
• Observes, reports and documents physical complaints.
• Monitors patient’s whereabouts at all times, and documents specific targeted behaviors during activities.
• Orients new patients to the unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Usual education and experience needed for satisfactory performance is High School Graduate or equivalent work experience.

Minimum Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in adult and/or adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current American Heart Association (BLS) Certification. Current CPI or MAB certification.
