Job Description
Title: Vice President of Student Services

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of a President, the Vice President for Student Services is the senior student affairs officer for the college. The Vice President will provide vision and leadership for the college’s Student Services programs, including counseling, admissions, and registration, veterans’ certification, Financial aid, and student success services. Successful candidate will have proven success in improving student access, engagement and maximizing student success and retention. The Vice President will collaborate closely with other Vice Presidents, administrative staff and faculty to oversee the college’s effectiveness in meeting students’ needs.
Job Duties
25% - Under the general supervision of a President, the Vice President for Student Services is the senior student affairs officer for the college. 15% - Provides direct supervision and evaluation of the Dean of Students (Counseling, Career Planning/Placement, Veteran Services, Disabled Student Services and Student Conduct), Director of Admissions & Records, Director of Financial Aid, Director of Registration (Registration/Advising, Orientation), and Director of SGA and Student Activities. - (Essential)
30% - • Develop, implement, direct and evaluate student programs and services in support of student college life. • Serves as an advocate for students with the college administration and communicates their needs and recommendations. • Supervises and coordinates the fulfillment of Student Services goals within the Strategic Plan of the college. • Develops and implements a strategic enrollment management plan for the college. • Responsible for Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) and facilitates the development and implementation of a campus-wide retention plan. Will collaborate in college efforts to embrace Achieving the Dream (ATD) at JSCC. Serve on ATD Steering Committee. - (Essential)
15% - • Represents the college in Tennessee Board of Regents activities and initiatives. • Participates in local, regional and state organizations and events to promote Jackson State Community College. - (Marginal)
15% - • Works with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to collect, analyze and effectively utilize institutional data to improve the delivery of Student Service programs. • Collaborates with the Vice President for Business Services and Physical Plant Director to ensure campus facilities support student engagement and learning. • Develops and manages Student Services budgets to support divisional and institutional goals. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in an area related to student services. Candidate must demonstrate increasing responsibility in one of more areas of student services.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success in creating comprehensive, student-centered programs and services that increased enrollment/retention/graduation. Experience in developing and managing departmental budgets. Experience in/knowledge of change management.

Work effectively as part of a management team dedicated to collaboration and the college goal of integrating instruction and student services as a way to create and maintain a supportive student learning environment. • Exercise group leadership skills that emphasize collaboration, consensus building, conflict resolution, and problem solving. • Create and maintain a high level of staff morale to achieve consensus while demonstrating sensitivity towards, and an understanding of the college's diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic cultural, disability status, sexual orientation, and religious makeup. • Create an environment conducive to the development of instructional and service innovations. • Work in a dynamic environment and handle multiple responsibilities. • Direct, coordinate and evaluate the work of others. • Develop and manage a budget, including externally funded initiatives. • Plan effectively in the process of allocating resources to further institutional goals, evaluating the results of the allocations, and developing strategies for continued strength of the college's programs and services. • Exercise independent judgment in developing and implementing creative solutions to changing conditions. • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing • Exercise independent judgment • Establish and maintain good community relations. • Deliver effective public presentations.
Pay Rate: $95,639 - $119,548 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
