Job Description
Dick Clark Productions is one of the largest global producers of live televised event programming. Tentpole live events include the “Golden Globe Awards,” “Academy of Country Music Awards,” the “American Music Awards,” the “Billboard Music Awards,” “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” “Streamy Awards,” and 16-time Emmy Award-winning series “So You Think You Can Dance.”


The VP, Production will be responsible to lead the production function on shows such as: “The American Music Awards,” “The Billboard Music Awards,” “The Golden Globes,” “Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” “The Academy of Country Music Awards”, specials, and other projects. This role will collaborate across all functions/levels and will lead physical production/budgeting of all original programming. The right VP candidate will have extensive experience in the logistical elements of live event television, including extensive budgeting experience, as well as a broad range of other production experience.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Help to strategically guide where company is going and how to take advantage of changes in the industry
  • Oversee the programming budget including original, library, and other DCP content, and manage the original and library budgets on a daily basis
  • Work to provide strategic guidance, solve problems, mediate programming conflicts and proactively deal with production issues
  • Stay current on product knowledge, pitches and technology related to programming
  • Negotiate client and external vendor agreements
  • Oversee and monitor deals with 3rd party production partners and vendors
  • Lead physical production/budgeting of all original programming
  • Negotiate, coordinate and track deliverables with platforms and distributors across multiple functions/projects related to programming
  • Partner with clients and the in-house creative and other teams to oversee the execution of all production and post-production projects
  • Lead and/or consult on complex programming projects and initiatives across multiple lines of business
  • Develop physical production and cost-related strategies for DCP programming


Your experience, skills, and attributes:


  • Experience and working understanding of live, documentary, scripted and reality television
  • Minimum 10 years of Entertainment Industry experience
  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers, customers, vendors and others.
  • Sophisticated and highly developed written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic relationships in the media and entertainment industries resulting in a wide network of industry contacts
  • Must possess strong leadership abilities to lead, manage and influence others with ability to drive change effectively across functional areas
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Listens effectively, transmits information accurately and understandably, and actively seeks feedback.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Ability to present and lead discussions with C-Suite executives on a weekly basis a MUST
  • A high level of initiative and drive. Natural sense of ownership for projects and duties.
  • Willing and able to travel as needed for business
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be able to generate high-quality material in a fast paced, dynamic environment; manage multiple projects at once; and flexibly respond to rapidly changing priorities in order to meet the dynamics of a competitive marketplace.
  • 5-7 years in a leadership position in television/film/content management, and/or development


Typical wage range: $200k - $250k + annual discretionary bonus. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
