About the Company


Farm Systems is the source of superior milking and manure equipment service to dairy producers in Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota. Farm Systems sells, installs and services industry leading brands of DeLaval, FAN separators, Jamesway and AFI Milk. Farm Systems teams cover a widespread territory in the Midwest and have an extensive level of expertise, including conventional and robotic equipment, chemicals, milking operations, and data management.


Farm Systems is a part of URUS Group LP. As a holding company with cooperative and private ownership, URUS is a family of businesses at the heart of the dairy and beef industry – PEAK, Alta Genetics, Farm Systems, GENEX, Jetstream Genetics, SCCL, VAS, and Trans Ova Genetics. These companies work globally to provide cutting-edge dairy and beef genetics, customized reproductive services to maximize conceptions, dairy management information to take producers to the frontline of progressive farming, and an array of products and services to help bovines reach their full genetic potential. Position Objective


Farm Systems is seeking an experienced, passionate, and ambitious individual with outstanding leadership skills for the Vice President (VP) of Operations position in Melrose, MN or Brookings, SD. The VP of Operations will ideally be based in the Melrose, MN or Brooking, SD area. This position reports to Farm Systems Managing Director. The VP of Operations will plan, lead, and coordinate Farm Systems operations along the strategic plan, mission, and financial goals.


This role will be instrumental at driving and growing the desired culture and values and will be challenged to deliver tactics that result in a high-performance culture. The VP of Operations should be driven to improve operations, streamline processes, implement strategies and tactics that drive business growth, and enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and development.


Major Areas of Responsibility


  • Leads the team to attract, recruit, and select the right people.
  • Executes a vision and achieves a high standard of operational performance.
  • Develops others by putting the best people on the best opportunities.
  • Manage the performance of the Farm Systems team on achieving quality workmanship and excellent customer service. Work with staff on building a solid reputation for our dealership that reduces A/R write-offs, settlements, and callback issues.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for Farm Systems and uses data-based decision making to assess the organization’s success and market competitiveness against these metrics.
  • Utilization of the total URUS family of products within the market for enhanced share of customer wallet.
  • Coaches and motivates employees to high performance levels and achievement.
  • Deliver profitability goals based on the strategic business plan.
  • Emphasize market share growth through yearly marketing plans. Clear communication and coordinated efforts closely with appropriate staff to ensure market share growth.
  • Actively seeks to improve team’s best practices.
  • Manage the Farm Systems assets (Accounts Receivables, capital, inventory, buildings, vehicles) to deliver a favorable balance sheet and maintain a professional image to our customers and members.
  • Provide strong people leadership to the Farm Systems team.


Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or higher in Business Administration or a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage with C-level executives
