Vice President Of Freight Forwarding

About the role:

As the Vice President of Freight Forwarding for TQL Global, you will be responsible for leading and growing our international import, export, air, ocean and customs brokerage services. Established in 2018, you will have the opportunity to work directly with executive leadership to develop and execute strategies to aggressively build and grow the company. This includes product development and enhancement, managing and growing air and ocean supplier relationships, developing pricing and RFP processes, customer retention and penetration, and driving operational efficiencies.

What you’ll be doing:

• Evaluate and improve air, ocean and customs brokerage metrics
• Review, develop and continuously improve SOPs
• Interpret and apply regulatory requirements
• Work with IT to identify and implement technology enhancements and operational tools that will have the greatest impact on increasing TQL Global sales
• Oversee and develop agency, SSL, airline, and other vendor relationships
• Manage and improve air and ocean carrier qualification and scoring processes
• Develop and maintain freight forwarding pricing processes, providing guideline rates and streamlined bid processes
• Develop and continuously improve customer RFPs and bids
• Work with marketing and sales management to improve our customer acquisition, penetration and retention efforts
• Oversee department accounts payables
• Design, develop and execute customer and supplier strategies to improve sales and operational productivity
• Oversee global trade compliance
• Provide guidance and support to all team members regarding freight forwarding sales, operations, standardized procedures and systems
• Serve as the “Qualifying Individual” as required for TQL Global’s ocean freight forwarding license with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC)
• Communicate international and freight forwarding best practices and apply them to our sales training
• Create a strategic business plan to grow and lead TQL’s Global freight forwarding services

What you need:

• Can quickly build trust and credibility with stakeholders and an organically grown team
• Proven track record of building scalable, repeatable processes
• Extensive knowledge of applicable domestic and international regulations, policies and procedures
• Experience as a licensed custom broker preferred
• Experience leading departments and large teams
• Meet all requirements to be “Qualifying Individual” for TQL Global’s ocean freight forwarding license with the FMC
• Can analyze, communicate and present data clearly and concisely
• Current and strong relationships with air and ocean carriers
• Excellent presentation skills
• Results oriented with the drive to grow an international freight forwarding business
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong analytical skills with a systematic problem-solving approach
• Flexible, can adapt to a hyper-growth environment, driven by continuous improvement
• Strategic change manager
• 10+ years of freight forwarding experience in import, export, air and ocean services
