Job Description
The Vice President of Finance will lead Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County’s (HFHGC) Finance Department and function which includes all financial administration, business planning, budgeting, and corporate administration. As a member of the affiliate’s Management Leadership Team, the VP of Finance will participate as a driver of the organization’s overall strategy. Reports to: President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Strategic Leadership
Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as a member of the Management Leadership Team.
Oversee budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County’s strategic plan.
Provide strategic recommendations to the president based on financial analysis, projections, cost identification and allocation, revenue/expense analysis and cash flow.
Assist the President in engaging the Policy Monitoring Committee, Audit Committee and the board as needed to assure the organization is in compliance on relevant policies.

Financial Management:
Oversee and coordinate all facets of fiscal management which includes the following:
Financial reporting, audits, tax preparation, cash flow management, forecasting and analysis, general accounting activities and internal controls, treasury management, banking, and account reconciliations.
Interface with auditors, government agencies, homeowners, attorneys, vendors, and Habitat Greenville staff and Board as necessary.
Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
Coordinate and lead the annual budget process and work with budget owners in each department to control costs and manage variances throughout the year.
Coordinate with the President and CEO to report financial activities and needs to the Board of Directors.
Serve as the primary staff interface with financial institutions.
Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.

Administration
Solicit mortgage finance opportunities and work with brokers to culminate and implement opportunities for mortgage leveraging.
Manage mortgage origination and servicing processes including management of outsourcing contract.
Review and approve all contractual agreements using appropriate consultation with legal counsel.
Develop and manage all purchasing policies and procedures and inventory processes.
Establish and maintain a risk management program.
Consult with legal counsel as needed on organizational issues.
Manage the organization’s physical infrastructure and assets.
Manage outsourced Information Technology function.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree (MA/MBA preferred) in Business, Management or Finance.
A minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the non-profit sector. Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, and budget.
Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with – programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
Ability to understand and manage contracts and to identify key operations indices as well as an in-depth understanding of financial concepts.
Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT vendors or staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increase efficiency in a fast-moving environment.
Flexible self-starter with the ability to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented.
Excellent people skills, with experience in collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
