VP EPC Renewable (Owners Engineer/Project Delivery )


Job Summary:


The Vice President, EPC Renewables (Owners Engineer/Project Delivery) will manage the execution of Renewable Energy Projects including but not limited to Domestic Renewable Natural Gas (all feedstocks), Fuel Cell, & Solar. Will be responsible for preliminary EPC activities during the project development phase as well as ongoing project management and support of existing projects both in construction and operating. The VP EPC will also support the development team by providing all relevant technical and commercial input required to develop projects, submit bids and achieve financial close on assigned projects. The position will oversee current projects in construction and will serve as the owners site representative on all matters.


The VP, Project Delivery will ensure successful delivery of programs, construction, and projects within their portfolio, as well as driving accountability for business goals and objectives within their responsible areas. This individual must have experience with project management and competency in the areas of planning, scheduling, budget, revenue generation, resource management, facilitation, reporting and execution in Renewable Energy Projects. Must be highly competent at managing cross-functional teams comprised of subject matter experts from multiple departments and across business lines.

This position will be assigned to specific development or acquisition opportunities and will receive functional guidance from the COO.


Supervision Exercised:

Supervision of outside consultants, EPC Contractor(s), and the selected engineering firm(s) acting as Owners Engineer.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and engineering support throughout the preparation, review and attainment of various permitting and approvals required for project.
  • Supports the environmental impact assessment and the public consultation processes on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for project managers for all development and construction related activities within SJIREV
  • In collaboration with SJI REV Leadership and supporting team, negotiates EPC contract terms and conditions.
  • Ensure key project costs are researched, competitively tendered and evaluated to ensure maximization of project and shareholder returns.
  • Assess and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
  • Maintain updated technical inputs for financial modeling; including but not limited to capital and operating costs, availability, performance and schedule.
  • Identify and manage project development resource requirements, both internal and external, including site organization.
  • Partner with Strategic Finance Department,Leadership as well as internal COEs to map favorability of project-based work and execution
  • Provide engineering budgets and schedules and manage engineering resources during all project phases
  • Manages third parties completing engineering studies under technical service agreements during screening, full scale development, and project financing process where applicable.
  • Manage and ensure successful delivery of the portfolio of renewable energy projects spanning domestic renewable natural gas, fuel cells, solar, and others that come through the development pipeline.
  • Collaborate with team members to align timing of approved projects to ensure feasible and maximum use of resources across the enterprise
  • Establish development budgets for specific projects and facilitate project feasibilities.
  • Responsible for budget and schedule for engineering deliverables including the Scope Book and related Project Contracts. Ensures that EPC contracts are properly aligned with other relevant project documents at both the bid stage and after the award of a mandate
  • Establish key project deliverables, reporting mechanisms and timelines. Manage progresses in accordance with specific project deliverables.
  • Negotiates technical issues, including scope of supply and equipment performance, with clients and the EPC contractor(s)
  • Supports corporate initiatives related to Operations and Engineering function including issues related to clients, contractors, vendors, technology, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure that the EPC specifications and contract terms are consistent with project’s technical requirements. Manage life cycle of projects with focus on providing solutions to concerns that may arise.



Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience working the Energy Industry (Renewable Energy preferred), Project & Construction Management
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Highly proficient in reporting, presentation, and communicating with executive leadership
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering with 7-10 years of relevant experience
