THE OPPORTUNITY:

Varsity Spirit is looking for a talented Sr. UX Designer to join the growing Digital Transformation team responsible for delivering seamless experiences to our customers across our B2B, B2B2C and D2C businesses. Reporting directly to the Director, Digital Experience, you will be responsible for enhancing customer satisfaction through improved usability, accessibility, and delightful user experiences. You will be a subject matter expert in creating interactive products and programs that enhance a customer’s experience with the Varsity Spirit brand, while also having a functional understanding of web and app development to ensure a seamless interface and digital product.


The position can be based in either Dallas, TX or Memphis, TN, and will be a hybrid home/office role.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and structure information effectively to improve findability and discoverability across our websites and applications.
  • Build high-level, detailed storyboards to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas to leadership across the business.
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Work alongside engineers and product/program managers throughout all stages of the production cycle.
  • Analyze data to examine website, app and/or product performance to better understand omni-channel touchpoints and full digital experience journey.
  • Partner closely with Creative team to ensure visuals and aesthetics adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Support Marketing / Consumer Insights (as needed) to design and map online surveys for research through various media platforms to gather customer feedback.
  • Conduct user testing of sample applications, websites, and software to assess user experience and ease of design.
  • Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
  • Consistently research user journeys and behavior to create and evolve the information architecture that increases engagement and loyalty with our brand.
  • Help educate the business by sharing knowledge about user-centered design and research methodologies.


Qualifications

  • Expert at mapping customer journeys, while continuously identifying points of friction and opportunities to enhance each user’s experience.
  • Proficient with visual design programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Figma, and others
  • A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Marketing, Design, or similar field.
  • Expert in user experience (UX) principles and strategies to map content and experiences against target persona(s).
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience as a User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, Information Architect, or similar role.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with a startup mentality.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and high-profile initiatives at once.
  • You are always thinking about what problem you are trying to solve for our users, while aligning with larger business goals.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate to key takeaways through impactful storytelling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in live events / sports / media & entertainment preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with content management systems preferred, but not required.
  • While preferred, no prior experience in cheerleading, dance, or performing arts required.


TRAVEL & LOCATION EXPECTATIONS

Travel is minimal (<20%); some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required for internal meetings and to attend specific events throughout the event season. This role is expected to be a hybrid office role, meaning an expectation of some on-site and some remote work as mutually agreed. The position can either be based in Dallas, TX or Memphis, TN.
