Job Description
Position Overview:
The UX Designer is responsible for translating the digital product vision into cohesive, engaging design across the Neighborly digital product portfolio. This position reports to the User Experience Lead and achieves results through collaboration with key stakeholders from across Neighborly, brand partners and vendor partner teams. The UX Designer will adopt a user-centered design approach by conducting user research, persona based interviews and discovery to leverage data to inform their development of concepts, customer flows, journey maps, wireframes and other key artifacts to inform the desired visual design and broader user experience, spanning over web application as well as mobile apps.
The position requires a designer with an ability to drive innovative design solutions with minimal direction. The ideal candidate understands contemporary design, user journeys, research methodologies, and can isolate solutions for complex experiences. This role will set a new standard for our business by introducing and reinforcing modern design practices in every step of the process of product creation, from research to concept to delivery. You will be a voice and advocate for our customers in planning and product development, translating the Neighborly’s enthusiasm for helping customers into authentic digital interactions that delight and empathize with their needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work within a cross-functional team in an Agile environment to produce deliverables such as experience guidelines document, wireframes, UX flows, visual comp screens and prototypes.
  • Establish design and interactive conventions, design user experiences, assist in gathering user requirements, participate in trade-off discussions with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research at all stages from discovery to validation, using a variety of methods to understand our customers and their relationship to our products
  • Develop a deep understanding of Neighborly’s customer needs and competitors through research and exploration.
  • Perform quick but thorough data analysis in order to create insightful and actionable findings.
  • Develop Neighborly’s design pattern library. Create and maintain UX/UI style guidelines to ensure consistency in all Neighborly digital interactions.
  • Design and facilitate prototype testing sessions in collaboration with the UX Lead and Optimization Manager; A/B or multivariate testing of design components and flows, information architecture validation e.g. card sorting.
  • Brainstorm on potential future product improvements with Product and Engineering. Assist product managers imagine new digital interactions and solutions.
Required Attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills, being comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a portfolio of work with a consistent track record for solving difficult UX design problems.
  • Strong understanding of user centered design methods.
  • Knowledge of accessibility-related guidelines and standards including ADA, WCAG, CCPA, Section 508, a good understanding of accessibility and usability for disabled people, and experience with devices and building accessible digital products.
  • Demonstrated experience and deep understanding of user experience best practices.
  • Experience implementing and executing Agile principles within digital-focused product teams and knowledge of typical development practices.
  • Stay ahead of developments in the UX field and apply new approaches to design where applicable.
  • Able to manage multiple projects across multiple brands and understand how they may be interrelated across the enterprise.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of user behavior/design thinking, behavioral triggers and data signals.
  • Experience in effectively presenting design concepts to colleagues, partners, stakeholders and executives.
  • Excellent written, communication and analytical skills, including strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Experience collaborating closely with technical teams.
  • Ability to interpret data exposed through analytics and optimization/testing solutions.
Education & Experience:
  • Franchise experience a plus.
  • Multi-brand, multi-unit experience a plus.
  • 3+ years wireframing/prototyping experience with tools such as Figma (strongly preferred), Sketch, Axure, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of user experience design for software, web or mobile applications.
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in design/user experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent combination of training and experience in a design/creative discipline.
