Job Description
Overview
URBN has an exciting opportunity in the Global Trade and Compliance department. We are looking for an Associate Manager of Social Responsibility to help support our global business. In this exciting role, the Associate Manager of Social Responsibility will play a critical role in furthering URBN’s progress in the Social Responsibility space, working toward achieving URBN’s forward-looking CSR goals. The Associate Manager will help support the Social Responsibility team to ensure URBN products are sourced responsibly, URBN’s suppliers are compliant with its Code of Conduct, and risk within the supply chain is mitigated. The Associate Manager will actively spearhead and contribute to new, exciting initiatives in the Social Responsibility space at URBN.
Responsibilities
  • Design, plan and implement vendor-facing human rights related initiatives using established project management principles to address prevention, identification and remediation.
  • Assess risk in supply chain to prioritize due diligence, and expand and adapt social responsibility initiatives for suppliers beyond Tier 1
  • Evaluate potential CSR partnerships and new initiatives for URBN
  • Oversee the process of onboarding of new vendors to ensure alignment with URBN values and Code of Conduct
  • Engage with industry peers and external stakeholders to benchmark, and to gain a deeper understanding of CSR-related organizations
  • Effectively remediate non-compliances; Analyze non-compliance trends within the supply chain, using root cause analysis to implement proactive, preventative measures
  • Monitor annual Social Compliance Audit program, report key metrics to leadership team, and adapt and improve processes to suit the business needs
  • Develop tools to maximize efficiencies and improve current due diligence programs
  • Identify potential efficiencies and improvements in supply chain mapping initiatives, and play a critical role in achieving URBN’s supply chain mapping goals
  • Leverage data and reporting to provide appropriate guidance to leadership and inform decisions
  • Spearhead development and implementation of responsible sourcing policies related to animal derived materials
  • Collaborate with Brand and Production teams to increase education and awareness of key Social Responsibility issues, and build partnerships to accelerate progress toward our goals
  • Develop and implement improved processes to risk-screen potential new suppliers
  • Monitor and mitigate forced labor risk through management and continuous improvement of social responsibility due diligence program

  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Education & Experience
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in a Social Responsibility or human rights related role, preferably in the apparel and/or retail industry
  • Knowledge of global human rights regulations/issues including industry best practices and emerging approaches
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, highly preferred
  • Proven experience reviewing & analyzing Social Compliance audits, and thorough understanding of relevant due diligence frameworks
  • A strong foundational knowledge of responsible sourcing, especially in the apparel industry
  • Well-versed in Social Responsibility initiatives and organizations in the apparel/retail industries
  • Clear track record of successfully developing and implementing social responsibility strategies and programs
