Underwriter – Commercial Insurance Jobs

As an underwriter for our Small Business Insurance team, you’ll be responsible for underwriting all major functions within our commercial lines underwriting unit. You’ll set premiums, perform extensive research, and communicate underwriting information to agents and insureds. Additionally, you’ll review, evaluate, and price business by applying sound underwriting judgement and adhering to company policies and state regulations. This is a remote position; you’ll be provided computer equipment and training.

Duties and responsibilities

• Manually rate risks while understanding the components that drive price
• Train new underwriters on new states, risk types, and complex underwriting issues
• Underwrite new and renewal business in addition to processing endorsements, inspection reviews, and premium audits

Must-have qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of three years of relevant commercial lines, insurance industry, and/or underwriting experience

Preferred Skills

• At least three years of underwriting experience in commercial property and casualty insurance
• Pursuit of AINS, AU, CIC, or CPCU designation preferred but not required

Start date: June or July 2023

Schedule: Monday – Friday with end time up to 8pm ET

Compensation

• $58,000 – $81,500/year
• Gainshare bonus up to 16% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
