The Opportunity
We are seeking a UAS/Drone Leader with extensive knowledge and experience in drones, RPAS, aerial technologies, GIS, business development and customer communication. This individual has proven leadership skills, works well within a team and is responsible for growing and integrating emerging technological advancements for our drone and conventional aircraft.
What you'll do:
  • Collaborate closely with Aerial Patrol, Damage Prevention, Supply Chain, and Emergency Response
  • Provide SME insight to emerging technologies for drone and conventional aircraft
  • Qualify, audit, and manage vendor/contractors operating UAS for the company.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
  • Provide technical support for various applications such as LiDAR, GIS, imagery, mapping, and thermal imaging
  • Manage and develop our growing UAS/ROS operation
  • Present and advocate throughout the company to educate broadly about drone safety, company requirements, RPAS capability, and potential opportunities
  • Liaison between third party and internal UAS operations and Business Units/Projects personnel
  • Collaborate with third party UAV contracted staff both in-person and remotely
  • Manage TCE's UAS efforts including business development
  • Operate as a Remote Pilot in Command, responsible for flight planning, flight execution and risk management
  • Collaborate with industry peers to advocate and advance drone capabilities
  • Maintain the operations manuals for US, Canada, and Mexico
  • Manage the regulatory tracking and maintenance requirements for our growing internal operations
  • Prepare and complete reports related to collected field data, post flight missions, and pilot and maintenance logbooks
  • Participate in conferences, conventions, training, and educational forums to evolve with new technologies and regulations
  • Standardize and develop a training program ensuring compliance with US, Canadian and Mexican regulations
  • Maintain and update CDL Engineering specification for drone operations
  • Provide SME insights to business units pursuing specialized drone capabilities including BVLOS and pipe integrity monitoring capabilities
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years working with as a remote pilot
  • Degree or diploma in a technology field
  • Proven self starter with experience setting up programs
  • GIS experience
  • Current FAA Part 107 UAS license required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience building a new team and setting up process and programs in a new organization
  • Previous leadership experience an asset
This role will require individuals to:
  • Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
