Reports to: Director of Project Fulfillment

Job Overview: Oversee and manage entire delivery and transportation process including schedule, loading, shipping, deliveries, and trailers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Rent or lease extra equipment as required to deliver product during heavy shipping periods.
  • Coordinate with project management and production to facilitate the erection and shipping sequence. Track production on projects to maintain accurate loading, shipping, and erection schedule.
  • Maintain strong line of communication with truck drivers with a focus on efficiency.
  • Ensure the proper permits are obtained to correlate with the oversize loads and scheduling pilot cars when required.
  • Coordinate drop lot locations if project requires that solution for successful shipping including shag drivers when required.
  • Work with Director of Project Fulfillment to create annual budgets, project multi-year budgets, and provide analysis of projected vs actual annually. Provide information to sales department on haul rates, typically updated yearly.
  • Keep current on shipping laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance for both regularly scheduled service and when repairs are needed.
  • Lead weekly transportation department meetings.
  • Maintain a weekly list of projects and number of loads shipped within the established shipping report in an excel format.
  • Oversee and manage Dispatch on a day-to-day basis.
  • Manage leased driver schedules, keeping staffing level loaded to meet the fluctuating demand.
  • Schedule and facilitate pre-erection shipping meetings onsite with erector and contractor in accordance with the periodic pre-erection meeting schedule. Make site visits to ensure haul route and site access to all shipping locations.

Requirements


Education and Experience
  • Demonstrated work experience in both distribution and logistics.
  • A degree in business administration, logistics, transportation, supply chain management or an equivalent of a minimum of 5 years’ experience is preferred.
  • Role in logistics, transportation, supply chain management with experience in both software and Microsoft office suite
Knowledge and Skills
  • Exceptional analytical thinking, problem solving and organization skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, delegate, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain positive and productive relationships with both drivers and customers.
  • Reliability in successfully balancing the drivers’ health and safety with the customer requirements.
  • Highly organized with an ability to function in a high stress environment.
