Job Description
WATKINS GLEN
Located within five hours (300 miles) of 25 percent of the U.S. population, Watkins Glen International is the premier road racing facility in North America, three-times voted “Best NASCAR Track” by readers of USA Today. The Glen hosts a diverse portfolio of premier sports car, open wheel and stock car races throughout the year.
Watkins Glen International is recruiting for the position of Track President.
The Track President position is central to the successful promotion of the NASCAR, Track and Event brands at-track and in local/regional markets. The Track President prepares, maintains and readies the facility for fans and competitors alike, while keeping a forward-looking eye on facility and event experiential trends in the sports and entertainment sectors. This forward-looking responsibility will include participation in capital and master planning processes.
They should act all times as an ambassador for NASCAR in their local markets, deliver ever-improving and exceptional guest experiences through the execution of the NASCAR guest experience standards and coordinate with all functions and teams across the company to effectively and efficiently host world-class events.
The position is the connective tissue between the local markets where NASCAR directly builds fan interest on a one-to-one level and engages with its fans and communities, and the broader efforts of NASCAR as a company and supporter of multiple sanctioning bodies. They are a critical component in bringing together the full scope of resources of the company to execute memorable, engaging and profitable events, while building goodwill in our local markets year-round. This includes being the year-round face of the Track property with regards to media outlets, the business community and local/regional service groups.
The Track President serves as a senior point of contact on race weekends for the industry, competition and race teams. They ensure event weekend executional requirements of multiple regional/central departments, working seamlessly with all industry stakeholders and municipal resources.
As the senior leader on-site at a track, the Track President is expected to instill NASCAR’s vision and values amongst their facility’s employees, drive professional development and foster an inclusive and competitive work environment. This senior leader is also expected to fully understand all components related to the event, including offering expertise and influence as needed with all company functions. The Track President is to drive aligned accountability for financial performance as set by annual and long-term financial goals - ensure strong discipline for pricing, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, control procedures.
The Track President should also be expected to investigate, explore and analyze existing and future non-NASCAR events from a profitability, brand fit and feasibility standpoint.
The position is expected to be an influential community leader who assists in positioning the company for success in the community, and with local and state governmental officials. The important leadership position supports NASCAR’s vision to build a globally diverse community of loyal fans and a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
