Job Description

The Bothell Fire Department is looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with sound judgment and decision-making skills, who can communicate complex and technical information in a clear and concise matter to be our next Deputy Fire Marshal.
What will this person do?

  • Respond to complaints of fire code violations and fire hazards. Investigates, documents and resolves compliance problems with owners within scope of knowledge and authority.
  • Interprets and applies current/relevant fire code, municipal code and other standards.
  • Inspects existing structures, new-construction and remodel sites for compliance with fire codes.
  • Schedules, supervises and conducts the inspection of hydrants, sprinkling systems, fire alarm systems and other elements of a fire protection systems.
  • Responsible for inspecting occupancies that require operational permits.
What does this person need to be successful?
  • Current fire prevention principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.
  • Be able to meet the requirements as a firefighter and maintain firefighter training at a level acceptable by Training Division and Fire Marshal.
  • Strong administrative skill and abilities including proficient at Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Office 365 interface. Able to learn and integrate additional software as needed.
  • Able to communicate and write professionally; and convey complex code information to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Time management skills.
