TAX / TAG AGENT (TAX COMMISSIONERS OFFICE)
NON-EXEMPT FULL TIME
$14.43 per hour

This individual will work under the supervision of the Tax Commissioner. Duties include, but are not limited to: Motor Vehicle Services - Creating, generating and mailing title rejection letters from the title examination process; adding as well as the releasing security interest liens from title records; create and maintain correspondence to collect out-of-state titles from security interest holders for residents relocating to Georgia and applying for a Georgia title; collect driver’s license information as a requisite for the title and registration process. Act as an insurance enforcement agent and collector of insurance lapse fees as a requisite for the registration process with regards to mandatory insurance laws; make determinations on titling and registering Low Speed Vehicles; manage, process, and reconcile motor vehicle registrations performed via the Internet. capture automobile dealer identification numbers and manage authorization certification of their agents. Enforce Georgia’s EPD rules concerning the emissions testing of motor vehicles in the metro counties as a condition of registration; inventorying, processing and issuing an ever-growing array of special tags with an assortment of qualifying requirements and fees. Conducts and/or attends meetings. Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate. Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, or other software programs. Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems; Establishes and coordinates work priorities; prioritizes mail/memos and other input for the Tax Commissioner; Maintains a working knowledge of the complex laws, rules and regulations of title examination and the multitude of various documents required for title issuance by the State of Georgia. Must also maintain a working knowledge of the complex laws and procedures of all other states as well to complete this process; Maintain a working knowledge of the security features found in title and identification documents to prevent the acceptance of fraudulent documents; Maintain a working knowledge of the mandatory insurance laws regarding lapse, suspension, restoration and their application to the registration process; Maintain a working knowledge of the rules and regulations relating to auto emissions and waivers; Maintain a working knowledge of the GRATIS computer and accounting system; Provide assistance to other employees or departments as needed; Perform other related duties as required.

High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by five (5) months previous experience and/or training involving clerical work or bookkeeping; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities required. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Notary Public license. Bi-lingual preferred but not required.
