RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TAX PREPARER

  • Understand the tax system
  • Be able to interview clients
  • Prepare returns for an individual (1040)
  • Assist in inputing information for business returns
  • Check Data – verify records/computation
  • Must be willing to research unknown areas

QUALITIES

  • Critical Thinking
  • Must love technology/computers.
  • Must be dependable, competent and reliable.
  • Bookkeeping skills a plus.
  • Must attend to details.
  • Communication skills – active listening capability to breakdown complex tax laws to simple terms for clients.
  • Be personable and patient.
