Job Description
Overview:
We want you to be an integral part of an innovative, creative, and energetic group of team members supporting a government client in Washington, D.C. Steampunk is looking for a Systems Engineer to support one of our federal customers. The Systems Engineer will support a dynamic team that provides engineering services across a variety of platforms and technology. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is interested in learning the latest technology and has a proven ability to learn quickly and apply training to solve real world engineering problems.
Contributions:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design and implement engineering projects as directed such as, but not limited to:
  • Single-sign-on (SSO) that operates within the DHS standards and SSO infrastructure
  • Application Metering capability that allows maximum use of licensed enterprise licensing agreement software
  • Enhancements, implement and maintain client platform (i.e. desktop, laptop, VDI) designs that include software images and hardware configurations and image updates
  • Microsoft Exchange enhancements such as upgrade to O365
  • Storage Area Network (SAN) solution
  • Skype for Business collaboration tool suite and web conferencing capability for desktop clients
  • Security Information and Event Management tools such as McAfee Enterprise Security Manager
  • Enhancements, implementation and configuration management of security monitoring, data logging and other utility servers, dashboards and console applications used to monitor and manage the IT infrastructure
  • Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) solution leveraging tools, licenses and software from existing Enterprise License Agreements
  • Provide technical advice and develop solutions as required
  • Install servers and/or appliances in racks and connect to infrastructure
  • Build servers within customerstandard build guidelines, harden and work with Information Assurance to remediate findings after IT Security scans
  • Provide Tier II and Tier III end-user rollout and troubleshooting support as directed
  • Provide level of effort estimates to project managers as requested in order to develop project schedules
  • Work with Infrastructure Engineering team members to meet requirements and deadlines
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), “As Is” documentation, Installation Instructions and any other required O&M transition documentation as required
Qualifications:
  • Familiar with enterprise backup solutions and policies.
  • Minimum of 1 Technical Certification (VMWare Certified Professional (VCP%-DCV or Higher), MCSE: Infrastructure (or MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure), MCSD: Azure Solutions Architect, MCSA: Windows Server 2012 or Higher, Red Hat, etc.).
  • Familiar with Linux.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience managing IT systems at the seniorlevel and/or;
  • Performs detail oriented task in an independent environment.
  • Familiar with storage technologies and concepts, to include iSCSI and NAS.
  • Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team. Ability to research and resolve problemsefficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain workload in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Strong system and network troubleshooting ability.
  • Experience providing project briefs to senior executives
  • Familiar with Windows Server operating systems, specifically Windows Server 2016.
  • Associate's Degree, with a preference of Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in an IT-related field.
