Position Overview:

The Systems Engineer III role is an advanced engineering role that works in conjunction and/or under the direction of the Manager of System Engineering supporting the technical infrastructure for the company.

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

• This position is a hybrid role that requires the employee to sometimes work at our Salt Lake City site. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers and senior management.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the day-to-day operational support for the technical infrastructure required to support the company.
• Evaluates the existing systems and provides the technical execution to improve those systems.
• Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Provides technical support by troubleshooting problems related to systems and infrastructure or platform performance.
• Advanced experience with systems monitoring and reporting. Must be able to work nights and weekends as the need may arise.
• Plans and implements system automation as required for better efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead analysis of product tradeoffs and deliver simple and intuitive products.
• Partners with security to configure security settings or access permissions for groups and individuals.
• Assists in planning and implementing changes to the infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance.
• Performs installation of software, hardware, and system upgrades.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Knowledge and experience in aspects of data center operations.
• Hybrid model of work will be allowed. This will include a schedule with certain days of the work week working from home, and certain days of the work week working in the office.
• Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Provide 3+ tier support for problems relating to projects, remediation, hardware, and software.
• Leads in the implementation and support of storage, data migration and disaster recovery operations.
• Manage on prem Active Directory, which involves creating and modifying GPO’s, groups, group memberships, demoting/promoting domain controllers, establishing permissions, and ensuring proper access to network resources such as mailboxes, file shares and printers.
• Deploys, patches, tests (check for compatibility issues, conducts QA) complex systems and platforms for each market.
• Must be able to participate in a On-Call rotation.
• Create technical design documentation in adherence to business, source system, target system, and solution architecture requirements.
• Liaise with vendors and other Engineers for problem resolution.
• Documents complex procedures and troubleshooting procedures related to systems/network software and hardware. Provides technical guidance and assistance to other Engineers and Administrators.

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Cloud technology experience such as Azure/AWS.
• Analytical skills.
• Experience with PowerShell a plus.
• Must be able to interact with end users and staff in a professional, friendly manner.
• Ability to follow up and provide feedback of status and results.
• Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Visio).
• Attention to detail.
• Organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server OS. (2016-2022)
• On prem Microsoft Exchange installation, configuration, and administration (2019).
• Understanding of and experience with projects, including project initiation, project scoping, deliverables, communication, timelines, coordination, and project closure.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Workstation OS. (Win10-Win11)
• VMWare installation and administration including vCenter, ESXI, and Horizon View.
• Decision making skills.
• M365/O365 cloud administration experience.
• Patience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of SQL administration and installation of SQL instances.
• Accountability of work
• Knowledge of system engineering software tools.
• Experience with enterprise storage systems including Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), local disk, iSCSI, etc.
• Configuration of and understanding of DNS/DHCP, and how they correlate with network operations.
• Responsibility/Ownership of work and projects.
• Ability to work independently.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience with enterprise level systems.
• Typically requires a minimum of 6-8 years’ experience with Systems Administration.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift objects and equipment 25-50 pounds.
• The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position about 50% of the time.
• Occasionally move about inside the office to access server rooms, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, crawl, pull, or otherwise move objects. General office work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Travel Requirements:

• Occasional travel may be required to assess and provide service at other sites in Bonneville’s six markets across five states. Traveling includes overnight stays, for work, training, or conferences.

Compensation:

• $90,000-115,000. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
