The
Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM)
is currently a bureau of the Oregon State Police. On July 1, 2023, per
House Bill 2927
OSFM will become its own agency. As such, the OSFM is a rapidly growing agency offering the rare and exciting opportunity to help grow a new government agency in Oregon’s executive branch.
OSFM in Salem, Oregon, is hiring one (1) full-time, permanent System Architect (Information Systems Specialist 7) position. This position may be eligible for lead work with a 5% work out of class pay differential. All IT positions are eligible for hybrid work with the option to work remotely on a part-time basis.
As the System Architect, you will be critical in the development and ongoing implementation of technology plans and architecture necessary for the creation of our new agency. You will be able to build the system and network architecture from the ground up! We will work to utilize the best available technology options to deliver a world-class technical architecture for the OSFM, which will provide the foundation for other cutting-edge solutions. IT team members will rely on you for guidance and expert knowledge. You will be involved in strategic planning of secure systems and solutions infrastructure. Minimum Qualifications (these must be described in your resume for full consideration):
(a) Six (6) years of information systems experience in server and network administration; OR
(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in server and network administration; OR
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in server and network administration; OR
(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Preferred Skills (these must be described in your resume for full consideration):
  • Advanced skill in designing and managing current Windows Server architectures.
  • Advanced skill in managing and configuring applications, patching, and imaging deployments.
  • Advanced skill in managing and configuring Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Advanced skill in managing and configuring Active Directory.
  • Advanced skill in building PowerShell scripts.
  • Advanced skill in network architecture and security.
