Job Description

We’re working with a manufacturing company in Northeast Florida to find a Director of Supply Chain that will serve as a key member of the management team. The key role is responsible for the overall purchasing and supply chain functions and processes. This Director will be evaluating current processes, streamlining policies throughout the purchasing function to effectively execute the company’s business goals and values. The Director will provide direct support to the leadership team by providing data analytics, tactical management planning, while developing and executing procurement policies to support the mission and values of the organization.

Position Description:

Strategic

·Develops a streamlined internal and external ordering system across all divisions and entities.

oDeploys new processes, standards, and operational plans for the function.

·Manages and oversees vendors to ensure they meet our performance expectations and contractual obligations.

oDevelops long-term strategies for sourcing products, including identifying potential suppliers, assessing their capabilities, and managing the procurement process.

oDevelops policies and procedures for implementing purchasing procedures and methods within the company.

oReviews bids from potential suppliers of goods and services, and making purchase decisions based on price, quality, and other factors.

oDefines a fully comprehensive category strategy for indirect goods and services.

oIdentifies opportunities for cost reduction and avoidance that are attributable to the P&L.

oDevelops working relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their sourcing and contracting needs, which they are accustomed to handling on their own.

oEstablishes (as needed) new vendors that better align with corporate strategy.

oCreate and utilizes data analytics to determine purchasing strategies and timeline.

·Manages inventory levels to meet demand, while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory,

oEstablishes current inventory levels and current mix/max approach.

oWorks to reduce inventory and increase inventory turns.

oResponsible for accurate inventory of all incoming and outgoing products.

oWorks within data and systems to develop an inventory tracking system to help monitor minimums and maximums established by manufacturing.

oWorks with Operations to ensure order processing is accurately consuming raw material and recording finished goods.

oSupports operations efforts to improve material handling procedures to improve efficiencies.

·Manages across different stakeholders and functional areas for alignment and focus.

Financial

·Advocates for alternate methods and sources of supply to ensure continuing cost savings.

·Maintains accurate data analysis, up-to-date costs and other financial data needed.

·Identifies opportunities to improve the financial performance of the business.

Leadership

·Responsible for the performance and results of each diverse team within the procurement and inventory control function.

·Creates an environment of collaboration, innovative thinking and creative problem-solving.

·Responsible for the achievement of key business metrics; performance to financial budget/forecast, capital tied to inventory, inventory balance sheet, On-Time-In-Full, traditional planning, purchasing, and vendor management.

·Evaluates supply chain process, purchasing, and inventory control tools.

Continuous Improvement

·Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

·Develops and manages performance metrics to monitor and improve performance.

·Focuses on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of ’s purchasing and inventory operations.

·Assesses the current and future supply chain landscape and business functionality to develop insights to identify areas for improvement.

·Develops and implements best practices to support long-term growth platform.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a passion for managing and developing employees in alignment with company values.
  • Specific expertise leading the integration and building of purchasing systems and processes within an acquisition-oriented company.
  • Experience streamlining the purchasing function in a multi-branch / multi-operations company preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy supply chain vision and strategic plan. Deep knowledge of suppliers, industry trends, emerging markets, technology, geopolitical changes. Significant materials management experiences either through direct management, projects, or programs.
  • Experience supervising two of more employees for five or more years.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated a history of successfully collaborating with multiple internal stakeholders who possess a high degree of autonomy.
  • Proven experience leading and coaching to improve individual and team performance.
  • Private Equity experience a plus.
  • Strong data analytical skills to review trends, inventory, costs, and project purchasing timelines to ensure raw materials are available based on demands.
  • Ability to analyze unstructured or imperfect data related to spending and identify insights and opportunities to pursue.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, supply chain management, or other related discipline preferred, MBA in related field preferred.
  • 10 or more years of experience in a management or leadership role, specific to supply chain/purchasing required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships with team members and suppliers.
  • Must have excellent analytical and financial acumen including cost modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Effective communication skills to translate strategy to action for broad employee groups across the organization.
