Job Summary
Under the direction of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Student Conduct Coordinator is on the leadership team within the Division of Student Affairs. The coordinator leads the college-wide student conduct system. In addition, the coordinator manages institutional risk in the adjudication of cases, conducts training and outreach, provides consultation on student conduct issues, and assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The coordinator is responsible for student conduct procedures for students to create and support through holistic student development support within a social justice student development framework centered on preparing students to be caring, socially responsible citizens in our global and local community. The coordinator will interpret College policies, will assist in analyzing and reviewing policies and protocols, serve as the chair of the CLC CARES Team, gather effective data, and help make protocol decisions when needed.
As a member of the leadership team within the Division of Student Affairs, the Student Conduct Coordinator collaborates and cooperates to create leadership and intercultural competence opportunities to support student learning and development.

Required Qualification(s)
  • Demonstrated success using inquiry and evidence to inform decision-making, short- and long-term planning.

  • Five (5) years of related experience in College Student Services, preferably in Student Affairs, Student Conduct, and/or Community Standards
  • Demonstrated abilities as an effective and exceptionally skilled communicator, specifically as it relates to verbal, written communication, and active listening.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Experience with a case management database platform, Maxient preferred.
  • Knowledge of policy and compliance development in an educational setting.
Desired Qualification(s)
  • Experience developing educational programs.
  • Mediation training and/or certification.
  • Bilingual in Spanish / English.
  • Experience coordinating and administering disciplinary hearings for student code of conduct violations in a college or higher education environment preferred.

Summary Of Essential Functions
Operations and Community Outreach (60%)
  • Revise, update, and author policy and procedures and other documents.
  • Represent the Dean of Student Affairs Office during administrative hearings held by the Student Conduct Hearing Board.
  • Provides guidance to CLC staff, faculty, and students and formalizedresentations training and p regarding student conduct policies and processes, student grievance and disciplinary procedures, academic integrity, changes to procedures, and other related matters.
  • Represent the Dean of Student Affairs Office at College functions that require training or orientation to departmental or student conduct matters.
  • Train staff and administrators on the Maxient case management system.
  • Assist with educational outreach and initiatives through student community standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate outcome options (including group outcomes, workshops, classes, and online technology).
  • Ability to conduct a team audit through NaBITA standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and present training to students, faculty, and staff, and ensure they are knowledgeable of CLC’s Student Rights and Responsibilities Procedure.
  • Advise staff and faculty members to consistently implement the College’s student conduct process.
  • Responds to student crises and emergencies in conjunction with the CLC CARES Team to include referrals to appropriate medical and/or mental health professionals.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the conduct process as well as the educational efforts of the office.
  • Participate in departmental training, retreats, and in­-service workshops.
  • Coordinates student disciplinary actions and sanctions with campus partners.
  • Investigate and resolve student ­related complaints referred to the Dean of Student Affairs Office, conduct and document investigations, advise students of their rights and responsibilities.
  • Document referrals in the case management system and provide initial follow-up.
  • Assist in identifying students with special counseling or skill development needs and coordinate referrals to appropriate resources and agencies.
  • Understand basic threat assessment protocols and interface with all CLC departments.
Strategic Leadership and Project Management (30%)
  • Assist with tracking the progress of case management plan goals and overall compliance.
  • Prepare agenda and documentation for CARES Team meetings.
  • Ensure protection of student records in accordance with FERPA .
  • Maintain confidential Student Conduct files.
  • Provide values-driven leadership to build and contribute to high-performing teams that provide excellence in customer service through innovative, creative, and collaborative practices to all units and campuses within the College and the external community.
  • Provide advice, consultation, and support in the development of college-wide policies and procedures, and responses to issues and trends affecting campus.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Send routine communication and templated directives and respond to inquiries.
  • Chair the CLC CARES Team with the ability to bring the team in line with NaBITa standards of practice.
  • Implement the strategic plan, develop a collaborative student-focused and community-focused culture, assure fiscal viability of the department, uphold policy and procedures, proactively lead talent performance and talent development, and build community relations as a collaborative partner on the Leadership Council and within a shared governance structure.
Personnel Management (5%)
  • Coach, mentor and develop employees across all departments, divisions, and units of the College in collaboration with leaders throughout the College.
  • Encourage and support personal and professional development and learning, well-being, and work-life integration.
Other (5%)
  • Participate in professional associations/organizations and educational activities that enhance subject matter expertise and leadership competencies, knowledge, understanding, and interpersonal skills. Remain knowledgeable of the current state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices in the field of appointment ensuring the College’s policies, procedures, practices, and programs conform to laws and regulations and align with the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of the College.
  • Participate in strategic and/or functional cross-departmental teams, senates, committees, and councils as supported by or at the request of the division or unit leaders.
  • Perform any and all other duties assigned that support the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of College of Lake County and goals of the department, division, and unit of appointment.
