Position Summary

The Strategic Buyer is responsible for performing tasks necessary to source, re-source equipment and materials to support production from a global environment to achieve the best quality and on-time delivery to our customers and secure the best Total Cost of Ownership. In the event of supplier quality and delivery problems, the Strategic Buyer handles the situation professionally and effectively.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Monitor forecast versus supplier capacities. work with production/sales in case of misalignments.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• The first escalation point for supply and/or quality issues including documentation of supplier performance. Support supplier corrective actions for on-time delivery.
• Supplier management (ensures supplier technical capacities, evaluation risk and performance, triggers supplier development, supplier visits, triggers and supports supplier release, manages supplier base, ensures SAP data maintenance, etc.)
• Negotiation and awarding (e.g. drives RFx, negotiation and awarding process on material)
• Lead time / Vendor management information maintenance
• Effective, proactive liaison with other departments to forecast material needs.
• Coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAPs) and ramp up, ramp down
• Support and follow up reimbursement activities.
• Supplier onboarding as per company standards
• Standard price versus purchase price, pricing and price change reporting
• Own and maintain procurement master data
• Active teamwork with other departments to constantly improve processes, meet-exceed target, share best practices and preset one uniform PS approach internally and externally
• Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure timely implementations of all projects (including those within the Product Development/Product Architecture processes)
• Solid level of technical know-how to fulfill the special/required knowledge in the area of responsibility
• Handle vendor return items and correct purchase order errors (pricing/quantities/etc.)
• Create and maintain Service Level Agreements

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Excellent computer skills, including data entry
• Bachelor's Degree or certificate within logistics, business administration, supply chain or relevant field (manufacturing, quality, technology or process engineering) preferred
• Excellent Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• At least 3 years' experience in parts and supplier management
