Startup Manager Jobs

Currently looking for Startup Manager for one of our major EPC clients in Houston, TX. Looking for somone with 10+ years of Startup Management and relevant work experience, to execute and manage the startup/commissioning of an LNG processing project.

Compensation: $90 - $105/hr

Location: Houston, TX 77056 USA (Hybrid work environment)

Visa Status: Must be US Citizen or Green Card holder

Position Type: 12-month renewable contract to start, direct hire conversion typical around 6 months

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and competent Commissioning and Startup Manager to oversee the commissioning and startup activities of one or more projects or functionally lead a global business unit. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and coordinating commissioning and startup assignments on assigned projects. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring projects are safe, operable, and meet quality standards. Additionally, you will play a key role in employee performance management and career development.

Essential Job Duties:

• Review and approve key startup methods, procedures, and schedules for the assigned project(s).
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to incorporate startup requirements into project activities, ensuring plant operability and personnel safety.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of assigned engineers, determining staffing requirements for professional and craft professionals.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, and 3D Model reviews, identifying potential risks and providing mitigation actions.
• Direct and monitor the commissioning and startup activities, including reviewing design specifications, preparing operation manuals, and coordinating with construction teams during field check out and pre-commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with functional and corporate policies, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
• Stay updated on technological developments and trends in startup and operating services within your area of responsibility.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with client counterparts, coordinating with them on startup-related engineering, construction, and operational activities.
• Conduct performance reviews for supervised personnel, providing technical assistance and on-the-job training for professional development.

Job Knowledge:

• Proficiency in process systems pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup of LNG systems/facilities utilizing APCI technology.
• Extensive technical knowledge of commissioning, startup, and initial plant operations, particularly in large-scale LNG facilities using APCI technology.
• Strong understanding of engineering systems, calculations, and application of computers to engineering problems.
• Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards relevant to startup, maintenance, operations, or testing.
• Familiarity with administrative practices, including cost and scheduling.

Basic Qualifications / Requirements:

• Previous experience in process systems pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup of LNG systems/facilities utilizing APCI technology.
• Minimum of 10 plus years of experience as a Commissioning/Startup Manager.
