Peckham Inc. - Mentor Specialist
Mission & Impact
Peckham’s Youth Services department truly strives to make an impact on the lives of the youth within our communities. One of the ways we can do this is through our mentorship program. If you are an innovative and creative individual who wants to positively influence the lives of youth, then this role may be a perfect fit for you.

We are looking for a Mentor Specialist who is comfortable with networking and building relationships. The Mentor Specialist will help ensure that all participants are matched with a mentor to help guide and assist them. This role will work with key established community partners and help establish new ones to recruit mentors for our students. Additionally, the Mentor Specialist has the flexibility to use their creativity and understanding of the population to plan and deliver quarterly family engagement events like barbeques, block parties, movie nights, and holiday events.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Foster and develop relationships with youth and mentors.
  • Onboard and welcome new mentors and youth to train them through orientation.
  • Track, document, report, and communicate regularly with community partners and youth parents/guardians.
  • Plan and deliver relevant events and activities to help recruit mentors and mentees.
  • Write detailed treatment plans, observation notes, and interim reports.
  • Support mentors in creating and updating Individual Mentoring Plans for each participating student.
  • Develop and supervise programming for youth (leadership skills class once per week)
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders and community partners.
  • Build a strong network with community partners and stakeholders to expand and enhance mentoring program.
  • Establish a culture with the youth to set weekly goals and inspire youth through strength-based activities.
  • Host family engagement events, mentor/mentee events, and recruiting events.
  • Network with community partners to develop give-back projects and Talent Tours for youth.

What You’ll Need
  • Pass and maintain a successful background check.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with youth
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Or commensurate work experience and education
Nice to Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience planning events
  • Experience in working with mentor programs, and/or experience in working with adjudicated youth desired.
