Posting Salary Range: $57,800.00/yr. - $75,000.00/yr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the university.

Department Profile
Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprises houses 10,000 students, faculty and family residents on campus, provides support services for 9,300 students residing in the communities adjacent to the campus, serves 21,000 customers daily in its retail and board dining programs, manages the UCSB Campus Store and University Center, hosts 150,000 guests annually for conferences and meetings, manages a major events center (Events Center), and oversees the administration of transportation, parking and fleet services. Additional responsibilities in the HDAE portfolio include Administrative & Residential Information Technology (ARIT) and The Club & Guest House. HDAE employs 600 full-time employees and 1,800 student employees. HDAE maintains a physical plant of more than 3 million square feet of buildings and 250 acres of grounds and landscaping.

Brief Summary of Job Duties
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Work Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in planning and management related to coffee or other retail operations management within a university environment, including but not limited to financial and labor management, sourcing & procurement, marketing & merchandising, handling and storage, customer service and health & safety.
- .4-6 years of management experience in a food service coffee operation and/or retail outlet with education in Food Service Management or Hospitality, or equivalent education/experience in coffee or retail food service operations.
- Experience within a customer service oriented environment responding to and meeting/exceeding the needs of the customer. Skills in identifying the customer's perspective and maintaining a commitment to excellence in customer service.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Functions/Percentage of Time/Duties
Staffing and Training-60%
- Facilitates job enrichment, continued training and cross training for all employees.
- Provides training, supervision, and leadership to a staff that consists of 4 PT student managers, 20 PT student supervisor, and 40 PT student associates.
- Provides regularly scheduled store meetings with supervisory staff.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations for all staff.
- Assists with departmental projects under the Assistant Director's supervision.
- Provides coaching and direction to the store team, takes action to achieve operational goals by adjusting schedules as needed.
- Manages with integrity, honesty, and knowledge to promote the culture, values, and mission of Starbucks.
- Leads the store team on implementation of Starbucks programs; develops action plans, and instructs and motivates store team to meet operational and organizational objectives.
- Responsible for hiring, scheduling, and disciplinary actions to ensure store standards are met.
Financial Duties-25%
- Responsible for adhering to university policy and procedure in regard to cash handling.
- Evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly sales and product mix reports and correlates that information with labor and budgetary goals. Makes adjustments to staffing as needed.
- Continuously reviews the store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement in marketing and sales.
- Responsible for maintaining food, labor, and general operating costs for the Starbucks store.
- Develops and controls the operating budget for Starbucks.
- Responsible for monthly physical inventory, entering in CBORD, ensuring accuracy, and adhering to all end of month procedures and timeline for invoices, transfers, waste logs, and write offs.
- Monitors payroll through Kronos.
Purchasing/Operations-15%
- Provides modified Serv Safe training to staff in food handling, food storage, sanitation, safety, and overall store cleanliness.
- Responsible for assessing daily inventory levels of all food and non food items. Creates a par list for all products and orders as needed. Maintains an excellent working relationship with all vendors.
- Uses CBORD for invoice management and payment.
- Maintains temperature logs on all refrigerators/freezers.
- Ensures proper food handling procedures.
