Staff Nurse- Main Or Team 5, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmalogy, Oral Surgery - Weekend Option

Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on incentive of up to $12,500.

SEIU covered staff working in operating rooms will receive an additional $10.00 per hour for all hours worked for a limited time.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse in the Main Operating Room, Team 5, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.

Characteristic Duties of our Staff Nurses include but are not limited to:

• Participates in projects/committees for enhanced functioning of the unit and supports unit level decision-making.
• Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of an interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Applies quality improvement principals to improve patient outcomes.
• Utilize critical thinking skills with adult population across all services in acute and ambulatory setting
• Adheres to UIHC policies regarding personal conduct, including: follows established leadership, remaining responsive to instruction and coaching from supervisors and meeting the standards of personal appearance, attendance and punctuality.
• Participates in the orientation of new staff and the ongoing education of personnel, as directed by the Nurse Manager or designee.
• Prepare and educate patients for discharge following ambulatory procedures.
• Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.

Percent of Time: 60%

Schedule: Saturday and Sunday (0700-1930). Will cover holidays that fall on Saturday/Sunday. No call.

Location: John Colloton Pavilion (JCP)

Salary: $33,900 (prorated amount based on 60% effort) per year to commensurate *This does not include an inpatient differential of $3,000 (prorated amount based on 60% effort) annually. Some shifts scheduled in this position may also be eligible for a shift differential. Shift differentials are further detailed in the UIHC SNAHP manual

Required Qualifications

• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
• Minimum of two years OR experience
• General computer skills required
• An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required

Desirable Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired
• If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
