Completion of limited Dental Assisting program, OR 1-2 years experience in general dentistry/oral surgery practice

Here are some of the job duties you will perform:

To be considered for this role, you need to have the following qualifications:

Set up for non-sterile & sterile procedures (under supervision) with appropriate instruments, equipment, and supplies.

Assist surgeon during minor surgical procedures including suctioning, retracting, passing instruments, providing airway support.

Assist in onboarding and supporting Oral Surgery Assistant I.

Here are some of the job duties you will perform:

Sets up for procedures with appropriate instruments, equipment, and supplies.

Assists surgeons during surgical procedures, including suctioning, retracting, passing instruments, and providing airway support.

Maintains sterile field during designated procedures.

Circulates on surgical procedures, completing necessary EMR (electronic medical record) entries, paperwork, logs, etc.

Prepares patient and room set-up for appropriate procedure/exam.

CONFIDENCE IN PROFESSIONAL APTITUDE and ability to effectively convey skills, knowledge and qualifications to patients

Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Demonstrate competence in four-handed dentistry technique, level of knowledge & proficiency in use of current dental materials, instruments and equipment.

STRONG COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, displaying the ability to connect and build relationships with team members/peers and patients

Current CPR certification and BLS required.

$650 Continuing Education annual allowance

Supplemental insurance offered including: additional life, disability, short/long term disability and legal coverage.

Vacation – earn (3) three weeks per year!

Sick Leave – eligible to earn up to 8 hours per month (no maximum)

40 hours Paid CE annually (pro-rated based on appointment %)

$100 monthly stipend for RVTs

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Performs office management tasks and clerical duties as required (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering telephone calls, billing, and ordering supplies).

Provides patient education regarding treatments and post op care.

State of Virginia X-ray Certification required.

Minimum 1-2 years of experience working as a Registered Dental Assistant.

Experience working in Oral Surgery preferred.

Experience in both mammalian and bacterial cell culture and proficiency in aseptic technique

Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain the regulatory documents for research

Experience working in a research laboratory performing experiments in the fields of biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology

Experience ordering and purchasing equipment and supplies

Independently manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines and ability to prioritize assignments

Expertise in performing dissections, tissue collection for histological analysis, preparing tissue blocks, and submitting tissue samples for processing is preferred

DMD / DDS from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation or equivalent degree
