Job Description

The Staff Accountant will primarily be responsible for assisting the Assistant Controller and Senior Accountants with full cycle accounting and projects, including, but not limited to, preparation and analysis of journal entries and financial activity, preparation of monthly general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable, corporate credit card and expense reimbursement administration, and continuous and proactive improvement of our processes and controls in the day-to-day transactional activity of the company. The position will also support the month-end close.


The ideal candidate must have an entrepreneurial spirit, a willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities, and strong interpersonal skills.


  • BS/BA degree in business administration, finance or accounting
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned
  • Investigate errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Experience with the travel & expense applications Concur and/or Certify is a plus
  • Desire to take on increasing responsibility
  • Prepare monthly close journal entries and prepare all account reconciliations and analyses as assigned
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Support periodic and annual audits
  • 2+ years accounting experience preferred
  • Current Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) knowledge is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to meet monthly closing and project deadlines
  • Participate in improving internal controls, policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Experience with Stale Check Unclaimed Property Filing with various State Agencies is a plus
  • Work effectively under tight deadlines in a team environment
  • Assist with corporate credit card and expense reimbursement administration and reporting
  • Support the Accounting team with the day-to-day operations by interfacing with individuals within and outside of the organization to ensure proper treatment of accounting transactions
  • Accrued Expense calculation for monthly budget vs. actual analysis
  • Experience with Corporate Credit Card Policy reporting and enforcement is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Analytic, detail-oriented, and inquisitive
