Job Description

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant II is responsible for reconciling multiple balance sheet and bank accounts monthly. The position is also responsible for the volume rebate process, preparing journal entries, and supporting the A/R teams in processing invoice adjustments (write-offs). The Staff Accountant II will be an integral part of our monthly financial statement review process by informing and explaining material balance sheet fluctuations. Other key attributes of this position will include assisting with the annual audit and maintaining accounting documentation. A qualified candidate must have strong analytical skills and be able to get to the root cause of issues with minimal guidance. This position requires extreme attention to detail and someone that is very organized. The individual also needs to be professional, accountable, and action oriented.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain process documentation and job aids to facilitate ease in cross-training and onboarding
  • Become the subject matter expert on our volume rebate process, ensuring the proper rebate amounts are calculated and accrued for our customers, are in alignment with contractual terms, and are paid out accurately and timely
  • Present results of one of our smaller entities in our monthly financial statement review team meetings
  • Prepare and enter journal entries; true-up accounts and update accrual entries as needed
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis, including bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and various other assets and liabilities
  • Assist with annual audit
  • Manage intern and staff (as dictated by needs of the group)

Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills:

  • Adept at maintaining roll forward schedules
  • Management experience a plus
  • Experience performing complex bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively
  • Identifies and shares best practices
  • Able to perform detailed analytical reviews
  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting
  • Excited to learn and apply knowledge; willing to jump in and help other team members
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, able to manipulate and analyze large datasets

Special Requirements:

  • B.S. in Accounting
  • PeopleSoft experience a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
