SHR Talent is partnering with a fast-growing corporate property management group in its search for a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of an extensive property portfolio. The Staff Accountant role is an excellent opportunity for a talented professional to join a dynamic team and contribute to the continued growth and success of our organization.
An ideal candidate for the Staff Accountant role is someone who has strong analytical skills and attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze property-related expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to improve overall financial efficiency
- Maintain property-related general ledgers, reconcile accounts, and post journal entries
- Review and interpret lease agreements
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies
- Identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions where applicable
- Continuously evaluate and enhance accounting systems and processes, streamlining operations and increasing efficiency
- Assist in the coordination of external audits and provide necessary documentation
- Conduct financial analysis on property performance, Return on Investment (ROI), and profitability
- Process invoices, vendor payments, and tenant refunds
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings to senior management to support strategic decision-making
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for the property portfolio
- Perform budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to track financial performance
- Monitor accounts receivable, minimizing delinquencies and taking appropriate actions for collections
- Oversee rent collection processes
- Collaborate with property managers, ensuring accurate tracking and allocation of expenses
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role within the real estate industry
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, specifically related to property accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or progress towards certification, preferred
