Job Description
Position: Staff Accountant / General Ledger Accountant


Location: Chesterfield, VA


Duration: Contract-to-Hire


Shift Schedule: 1st Shift


Benefits/Incentive: Insurance Offered (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.)


Basic Function:


Preparation of financial statements and balance sheets. Reconciliations of revenue, expense, and payroll accounts.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare daily cash reports.
  • Assist in 1099s.
  • Prepare journal entries, general ledger analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Reconciles various accounts including cash, revenue, expense, payroll, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of assigned work in processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions.
  • Maintain Fixed Assets and Note payables schedules.
  • Follows A/P systems, policies, procedures, and practices, to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company guidelines.
  • Assist with yearly Audits.
  • As directed performs tasks associated with month-end/year-end accounting processes.
  • Analyze equipment cost and purchases for potential capitalization.
  • Assist Accounts Payable
  • Maintain loan amortization schedule and record monthly loan payments for equipment.
Requirements:


  • Experience working with GAAP and accounting software (Viewpoint preferred).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Must be capable of producing reports and associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Must project positive and professional image.
  • 2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting.
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Must thrive on challenge; being able to stay motivated, adaptable, and resilient when faced with stressful situations.
  • Team player with ability to participate in planning processes and work with others to meet goals and objectives.
  • Good driving record.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Prior experience in construction industry preferred.
  • Highly organized, ability to identify problems and develop/present/implement appropriate resolution, self-motivated, takes ownership of their work and performs in a proactive manner.
  • Highly proficient computer skills including advanced knowledge of Excel.
Required Certifications and Licenses:


  • Valid Driver’s License
